About Me

I am a third-year student studying Applied Immersive Game Design at the University of Canterbury. I have some experience in most common game dev roles however my passion and specialty is the design side.

I value character and uniqueness in the design of my games. I try to use my own skills wherever I can to create models and write code instead of using premade plugins and assets. This results in my games all sharing my own unique theme and art style, but it further develops my skills in other areas and lets me view problems from the perspective of a designer, programmer, or artist.

I believe that putting in that extra effort instead of finding a premade asset makes my games feel like my own creation and something I can be proud of.

About My Work

All of the major projects listed were created entirely by myself using Unreal Engine. These games are all at the point of having a full gameplay loop with several extra features. PROD Racers and Unreal Defense are both completed and likely will not be continued, as they were assignments and client projects at UC.

Quad Jumper is my main project right now and has a full gameplay loop, customization features, a progression system, multiple levels, and more. The latest playable version of the game can be found on Itch.io. I started Quad Jumper during June of 2022.

My other major project is Light Flight, I have currently paused development of this to work on Quad Jumper, but this game is in a playable state. I started the project in my last year of high school in 2020, and it was created as I was learning Unreal Engine. Light Flight is a good example of my skills back then, and when compared to Quad Jumper, there is a massive difference in quality of the design and features.

To gain more experience of working in a team I have done 5 game jams in a team. Put Yourself Together, In The Air, Retirement Plan, Time thrifters and Defence Lines are great examples of how well I work in a team when placed in different roles.

I participate in every local Game Jam I can, and have hosted multiple during my time in UC's Game Dev Society.

Community Involvement

I am involved in a range of community groups and events relating to game design and development.

At the University of Canterbury. I am in the executive board of both the Product Design Society and Game Dev Society.

  • In 2021, 2022, and 2023 I was elected as Game Design Representative for the Product Design Society.

in 2022 I was elected as an Event Coordinator for the Game Dev Society, and 2023 I was elected for Communications manager.

Aside from these community roles, I also attend game jams and other events like the Christchurch Game Developers Meetup.
